My Beauty Routine: Part I
I admit to chuckling as I wrote “Beauty Routine.” I mean, really? I try to look presentable and neat. I gave up on beauty a long time ago, and I feel more beautiful than ever since doing so! That, however, is not what this series of posts is about! I am often times asked about what my routine is like, so I am going to break it down a bit. If there are specific items not addressed that you are interested in, let me know. I’ll try to cover them in the next few days. Because hair is such a “big” topic, it is getting its own post.
Hair: I have not mentioned anything since November about my “ditch the poo” experience! Hard to believe! Since that time, I have completely ditched the apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse. Not kidding! I found that it was making my hair too oily, because my scalp is now producing the right balance of oils for my hair. I wash with baking soda paste once or twice a week (or so), and I do rinse my hair after most workouts, depending on how sweaty I am and when the next scheduled wash is. Sometimes I do it…sometimes I do not.
On hair washing days, this is what I do. I place a couple of scoops of baking soda in a small cup. I keep it under the sink in the bathroom, so this is easy! I take the dry baking soda in the shower with me and then add a bit of water when I am ready to wash my hair. I use this handy “brush” to massage the baking soda in to my scalp.
I brush it with a natural bristled brush to help spread the oils down the hair, which keeps it healthy and neat. I also try to blow my hair dry at least one time per week, because I can use a natural bristled round brush to help redistribute the oil. This helps the scalp from getting too oily and keeps my hair looking good and preserves the style longer. The old adage of a hundred strokes a day is functional, though I do not brush that much except while blowing my hair dry.
I noticed this morning that my hair still looks good (minus its need for a haircut!) in spite of not washing it since Saturday!
That’s basically it. Any questions?
