I want to make this now!
I made this dinner about a year ago, and now I want to make it again…right this minute! In the back is a salad with mixed greens and fresh vegetables. In the front is sauteed rapini and green garlic over quinoa. Sweet Jesus, I must make this tonight! (The veggies and green garlic pictured are from Three Springs Farm, of course!)
Check out Bethany’s post too. It’s her deal…I just tag along!

You care for the land and water it;
you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
to provide the people with grain,
for so you have ordained it.
Psalm 65:9
Play along with Baloney. We have fun, I promise.
Leave me a comment if you post a perfect pairing, so I know to come visit you!

Earth Day has come and gone, so it is time to hold the drawing for the three prizes: A cleaning kit, skoy cloths, and produce/bulk food bags. I must admit, earlier in the week, I was worried about whether anyone would participate! I think this each time I have a give away, but generally, my readers never disappoint! I think each person really took the time to think about the environment, and that is really the point of requiring a post or comment.
Please take the time to read the posts! There is some great information presented and new ideas for everyone! Here is each person’s number based on the order of comments:
- Erin
- Kearstin
- Carrie
- Jackie
- Carrie
- Carrie
And the winner of the cleaning kit is:

Erin!
The winner of the skoy cloths is:

Kearstin!
The winner of the produce bags is:

Carrie!
And here is the fun part, as I sometimes do when there is one more person than prizes, Jackie wins too! Jackie will receive a set of produce bags as well!
Please email me (if you don’t have my email, use the contact me form) the address you would like your prizes sent!
Once again, I thank everyone for reading and writing! I really appreciate it!
Happy Earth Day EVERYDAY!

Sojourners published online a letter to the Emergent Church (authored by Lisa Sharon Harper) and I Didn’t Learn About the Emerging Church from White Males (by Mike Clawson) related to race and justice issuesin the context of religion that I found interesting. The articles are a part of a blog conversation in response to an article in Sojourners print magazine titled Is the ‘Emerging Church’ for Whites Only?
I admit that I have not given much thought to ear piercing (or anywhere else piercing) in a long time, but when ZRecs posted about getting Z’s ears pierced, I really learned a lot and thought I would share the post. It’s worth the read and the title is catchy– No Guns Allowed.
Dulce posted her toolbox for gentle discipline. I have to admit, I use many of these same methods and have blogged on them, but she has it all wrapped up in to one complete post.

Let me start today off by saying this– I do not generally wear makeup on my face. Occasionally, I will, but I cannot remember the last time I wore more than a lip gloss, especially since I got glasses! Sometimes I go all out and wear lip gloss AND mascara! This obviously impacts how I care for my skin, as I do not need to wash makeup off each night, and my skin is able to breath all day long.
Face: I usually do this in the shower with a bit of baking soda. My two scoops in my cup is enough to cover my face too. Baking soda is a natural exfoliate, and because I do not leave it on my skin long, it is not drying. My skin has adapted well to this, and I have fewer breakouts than ever before. OK, I admit that is probably due to the combination of no make up and the baking soda.
Body (washing): Yet, again, the magic cup of baking soda. I pay special attention to the “odor” areas– underarms, etc– and areas where exfoliation is needed (knees, toes, etc).
Shaving: Well, this is complicated. You know I stopped shaving, right? Unbelievable, right? Well, last week I thought I would shave my underarms just because. Um, yeah. I hated it. My skin sticks to itself. I end up using more deodorant/crystal. ACK! I will not be shaving again for a long long time. Not even for the beach or the summer.
Deodorant: Oh Deodorant…you are still a nemesis of mine! I want to ditch you completely, yet I live in Oklahoma. And I sometimes sweat and feel like I smell a bit. I do not use antiperspirants, but have been using a crystal during the fall and spring (nothing during the winter, usually). Summer is nearing though, and it was 80 degrees in Oklahoma last week, so I need to figure this out! I do not want to wear deodorant. Because I work out, I shower more often and therefore do not feel like I smell (and no one has complained). However, on high stress work days, I do still use a bit of Tom’s of Maine or the crystal. I am considering skipping all together on days I shower, unless I have a busy day, meeting or presentation.
All of that to say, I don’t use much, but I am STILL working on completely ditching the stuff.
Have I missed anything you are curious about? Seriously, it is not prying. I am happy to share.
